The Lost Village of El Acebuchal

Hidden in the mountains between Cómpeta and Frigiliana, El Acebuchal is one of Andalusia’s most fascinating villages.

The settlement was abandoned for decades during the twentieth century and later lovingly rebuilt. Today, its white houses, small chapel and quiet lanes offer a remarkable glimpse into the region’s past.

We stop to walk through the village, hear its story and experience its unique atmosphere.

Fábrica de la Luz

Our journey continues to the natural surroundings of the historic Fábrica de la Luz near Canillas de Albaida.

Surrounded by trees and mountain vegetation, this peaceful riverside location is ideal for a short walk, a refreshing break and photography.

Depending on the season and water conditions, you can sit beside the river, dip your feet into the water or simply enjoy the cool shade and sounds of nature.

Photography Stops

The tour includes several opportunities for landscape, village and travel photography.

Your host is a professional photographer and can provide practical photographic advice, composition tips and local knowledge when requested.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather, road conditions, forest restrictions and seasonal access.

This is a scenic adventure experience and not an extreme off-road tour.

The Land Rover travels on public roads and suitable authorised rural tracks. Guests should be comfortable entering and exiting a higher vehicle and travelling on winding mountain roads.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please advise us in advance if a child seat is required.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. The Land Rover is reserved exclusively for your booking and accommodates a maximum of four guests.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Children can join when accompanied by an adult. Their age and the availability of an appropriate child seat should be confirmed before booking.

Do we need hiking equipment?

No specialist equipment is required. Comfortable, closed shoes are recommended because some stops may include short walks over uneven natural terrain.

Can we swim at the Fábrica de la Luz?

The water level and conditions vary considerably throughout the year. The stop is primarily a nature and riverside experience. Entering the water is only possible when local conditions allow it and remains at the guest’s own discretion.

Is this an extreme off-road tour?

No. The focus is on landscape, discovery and authentic local experiences rather than extreme driving.

Can the tour focus on photography?

Yes. Photography enthusiasts can request additional photo stops and practical guidance from a professional photographer.

What happens in bad weather?

If conditions make the route unsuitable or unsafe, the tour may be adjusted, postponed or cancelled. Alternative arrangements will be discussed directly with the guests.
